Community

Speen Pre-School is very much part of the local community. Throughout the year we hold numerous events such as a Sports Day, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Nativity and Children's Christmas and summer parties, as well as various other social and fundraising activities. We welcome and encourage parents to be involved in all these events.

In addition, we have strong links with Speen Church of England Infant School, which many of our children go on to attend after Pre-School. We regularly take our pre-school children to the school to get involved in activities such as singing and creative art. In return, children from Speen School are invited to attend most of our events which provides a great atmosphere!

We have also established a relationship with the village church, Speen Baptist Church and hold special Christmas, Easter and Harvest Festival services for the Pre-School to which everyone is welcome to attend.

We use the village shop for purchasing our snacks, with two of the Pre-school children nominated to visit the shop with a member of staff in order to collect the weekly supplies.

We use the village playing field for most of our outdoor activities where we have a secure, fenced off area with play equipment and we have access to Ridgeley's Field, donated to the village for the benefit of local children, where we hope to establish more 'natural' outdoor play, based on the 'Forest School' ethos.

'As they go on walks, they learn about the environment and meet local residents.'
